[ GEO TEXTILES (TECHNICAL TEXTILES)]

Mono filament cross section type(3)
Non woven fabrics are defined as sheet or web structure bonded together by entangling
fiber or filaments and by perforating filaments
mechanically,thermally or chemically.
They are flat, porous sheets that are made directly from separate fibers
or from molten plastic or plastic film. They are not made by weaving or knitting and do not require converting the fibers to yarn.
Non woven fabrics are engineered fabrics that may have a limited life,single-use fabric or a very durable fabric.
Non woven fabrics provide specific functions such as absorbency, liquid
repellents,resilience,stretch,softness,strength,flame retard ency,
These properties are often combined to create fabrics suited for specific
jobs, while archiving a good balance between product use-life and cost.
They can mimic the appearance, texture and strength of a woven fabric
and can be as bulky as the thickest paddings. In combination with
diverse properties are used alone or as a component of apparel, home
furnishings, health care, engineering industries and consumer goods.
As we can see ,there are many uses for nonwoven fabrics listed below:
1 - disposable diapers.
2 - sanitary napkins and tampons.
3 - household and personal wipes.
4 - laundry aids.
5 - fabric drier sheets.
6 - apparel interlinings.
7 - carpeting and upholstery fabrics.
8 - padding and bulking.
9 - wall coverings. 10-agricultural covers and seed strips.
11- automotive upholstery and head liners.
12-filters.
12- envelops.
13- tags.
14- labels.
15- insulation.
16- house wraps.
17- roofing products.
18- civil engineering fabrics.
19- geo textiles 20)- Shape Memory Textile Materials
Vegetable Fiber Geo Textiles. A new technology has been developed to produce novel forms of directionally structured weft knitted reinforcing vegetable fiber geo textiles. These geo textiles are more environmentally friendly and cost effective than traditional geo textiles. The project is under laboratory tests. Project Investigator - Dr.M.Pritchard. Project cost £=1,25,145.00. ESPRC - Ref GR/S55460/01.
