The greater interaction between academician and the industrialist during curriculum planning and delivery can help to produce trained manpower having knowledge and skill sets ideally suited to the requirements of this sector.

While giving the details of the school, Course Director and Head, Clothing and Textiles, Dr Neelam Grewal said that efforts were being made to bring in experts from the industry, professional bodies, facilitating and service agencies such as NITRA Power Loom Centre and the Textiles Committee for delivering lectures and holding demonstration to scale up the knowledge and skills of the participants that have come from different parts of the country.

Some of the topics covered in the course include market-driven designing for higher realisation, automation in apparel industry, fashion forecasting and design requirements for high-end products, fabric formation systems, impact of technological development on knitted fabrics and garments, innovative and diversifying textile carfts for contemporary uses, supply chain management, competitive logistics and building brands. An exhibition of the product range developed by Fashion Technology Park, Mohali; Venezia, Ludhiana and Patiala Handicraft and Handloom was also arranged on the occasion.
