[ Unite and lead is the watchword of the wise. ]

As the pioneers of the textile machinery industry traveled the world they realized the need for Indian mills to have access to the latest global technology while improving the research and development capacities of local machinery and parts producers.
Thus in 1980, ITAMMA, along with other associations banded together to create a new dynamic entity, the INDIA ITME SOCIETY.

Encouraging knowledge sharing and adaptation of prevailing trends in the textile machinery sector became the motto of this society. The exhibitions conducted by Society every four years provide a platform for displaying new developments in the sector that can be absorbed by the global textile machinery to create better and newer products. The scale of this event provides the the best of Indian and international manufacturers an opportunity to showcase innovation, quality, and performance. The exhibition is a networking magnet that has seen the launch of new products, and new collaborations between Indian companies and their counterparts worldwide.

Shri. Suresh Mehta, among ITAMMA's most dynamic Presidents, believed in the potential of India ITME to change the fortunes of the industry. As a huge initiative, India ITME required enormous resources to be successful event and the real possibility of failure. Shri Mehta assured the Society that bhe would underwrite any losses that occurred through the event and riding of by his confidence, the exhibition was conducted. And the rest is history.

the success of the show in 1980 propelled greater participation in the decades that followed and participation is an article of faith for the entire textile engineering and machinery industries and the members of ITAMMA.

The year 1989 saw the establishment of "Federation of Indian Textile Engineering Industry" a collaborative effort of ITAMMA and the accessories sectors and this nurtured a deeper relationship between two sponsoring organizations of India ITME Society. Thereafter, all major representations were made under FITEI banner. FITEI played an important role in the augmentation of the textile machinery, component and accessories manufacturing sector.

In 1990, the NTC group of mills was taken over by the government citing the amount by them as bad debts. ITAMMA's team met with the Textile Commissioner to comprehensively present the case of its members several of who had not been paid for the goods supplied to the mills. These efforts required persistence, tenacity and the committee members involved in the process were clear that the matter was too critical not to be persevered with and resolved.
